TAPICO CEO's Provincial Visit: Commitment to Reviving and Expanding Petrochemical Operations

According to the TAPICO Information Base, Dr. Abdolkarim Pahlevani, CEO of the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Investment Company (TAPICO), along with his delegation, conducted a provincial visit to inspect subsidiaries. The tour included visits to Fanavaran, Ghadir, Shimi Baft, and Farabi petrochemical complexes in the Mahshahr Special Economic Zone, as well as Abadan Petrochemical, Iranol Oil Refinery, and Pasargad Oil Complex in Abadan. The team reviewed operational performance, production progress, and ongoing projects.

Revival of Abadan Petrochemical on TAPICO’s Agenda

During the first provincial visit to the subsidiaries, Dr. Pahlevani visited Abadan Petrochemical Complex and was briefed on the latest developments and current activities.

Emphasizing unity and cooperation to overcome challenges, he issued directives for the rapid revival of this complex. In a cordial meeting with labor council representatives, he expressed appreciation for the efforts of Abadan Petrochemical employees, stating:
"With solidarity and collaboration, we can overcome challenges and revive Abadan Petrochemical."

He noted that the issues facing the complex did not arise overnight and that its revival is a strategic priority for TAPICO.
"Resolving these challenges is tough, but we remain optimistic and determined."

Visit to Iranol Oil Refinery and Pasargad Oil Complex

The tour continued with visits to Iranol Oil Refinery and Pasargad Oil Complex in Abadan. In follow-up meetings with the management teams, Dr. Pahlevani reviewed the companies’ performance and expressed gratitude for the management and staff's efforts.

Launch of Iran’s First Hydrogen-Fueled Boiler in Petrochemical Industry

In a formal ceremony held in Mahshahr Special Economic Zone, the first hydrogen-fueled boiler in Iran’s petrochemical industry was launched at Fanavaran Petrochemical Company.
This milestone marks a major step towards sustainable production, energy optimization, and environmental protection.

Dr. Pahlevani stressed the importance of development amid sanctions and the pivotal role of petrochemical companies in national strength and security:
"Development requires consensus, determination, expertise, calm, focus, and managerial balance."
He added:
"Visiting ruins brings no joy; what brings joy is witnessing progress, building, and striving for a better future. Our colleagues are working with great passion to rebuild Abadan and its petrochemical complex."

Development as TAPICO’s Core Strategy

Highlighting "environment" and "development" as vital concepts, Dr. Pahlevani said:
"Today, we see the results of past development efforts and witness the start of new ones. Development during sanctions is a dream, and those who pursue it are truly exceptional managers."

He underscored that development is TAPICO’s main policy:
"We insist on development, but only in companies ready for it and in projects with strong economic potential and future viability."

Dr. Pahlevani thanked the project’s execution team and emphasized supporting domestic manufacturing:
"We support capable local manufacturers who earn our trust and deliver quality. But we will avoid those who exploit our domestic production policies."

Strengthening Project Management Infrastructure

Citing Fanavaran Petrochemical’s shift to a project-oriented structure, he called for establishing robust project management systems in all companies:
"Every day of project delay adds financial burden. Along with execution, we must also implement sound project management methodology."

He stressed the importance of documenting project knowledge:
"This helps avoid future mistakes. In times of sanctions, petrochemical companies represent part of our national strength and security. The responsibility is huge."

VAM Project: Second of Its Kind in 32 Years

After launching the hydrogen boiler, Dr. Pahlevani and his team visited the construction site of the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) project—only the second such project in the country in 32 years.

The initiative aims to extend the downstream value chain of the acetic acid unit, producing higher value-added products and creating jobs while boosting the region’s economic development.

Ghadir Petrochemical Needs Support for Further Growth

As part of the visit, the delegation toured Ghadir Petrochemical Company. Dr. Pahlevani thanked the hardworking staff and stated:
"This company needs care and collaboration to achieve greater progress. With teamwork and planning, we can overcome challenges quickly."

Key Projects Initiated at Shimi Baft Petrochemical

At Shimi Baft Petrochemical, Dr. Pahlevani launched key projects including the distillation tower and storage tanks.

He praised the team's efforts, saying:
"These successes are not accidental. They result from strategic planning and collective effort, reflecting the company’s high capacity for further development."

Farabi Petrochemical Has Amazing Potential

Finally, the TAPICO team visited Farabi Petrochemical Complex. Dr. Pahlevani noted:
"Farabi is one of our subsidiaries with excellent potential for growth. We are open to development proposals and ready to move forward with them."
